Tomorrow my boys will be 2 weeks old. They were born
15 weeks early at
Children's Hospital in Buffalo. It's a trip because
I thought I was
doing everything right.Never would I have imagined
that I would deliver
my babies at 25 weeks.I thank the LORD that my boys
are fighting as
hard as they can right now.I feel so empty not
having my babies here
with me, but I trust they are getting the best care
available.Your web
site makes me hopeful. I never knew there were so
many people in this
situation.Thank you and everyone brave enough to
share their story. You
are definitely an inspiration to me. |

I am the Grandmother of twins that were born 26
weeks gestation. Our
twins had Twin to Twin Transfusion. One too little,
one too big.
God must have had a greater plan for our little
Cameron. Born at 14 oz.
he just wasn't strong enough to make it. He survived
15 minutes and
then passed in his Daddy's arms.
Jaylin, the larger twin was born at 1lb. 12 oz. I
call him our miracle
baby. He's fought the whole way. Like the other
parents have said it's
been a roller coaster.
Jaylin's now a month old and almost ready to come
off his ventalator
and nurse on his own.
God Bless to all. |

My husband and I have 4 1/2 month old identical twin
boys who came 7
weeks early. I am a respiratory therapist and was
terrified that they
would have several complications but they surprised
everyone. They
were only in oxygen for about 12 hours after they
were born, few tube
feedings and some apneic episodes(which were pretty
unsettling). they
came home 2 weeks later. That was quite a day. They
weigh 15 lbs.
each now and seem to be right on schedule with
everything. We are so
proud and Thank God everyday for our precious
angels. They are truly
God's great handy work and the loves of our life!
They bring a smile
to our faces all the time. We can appreciate your
story and all the
tough times you went thru for your babies. We had a
tough time also
but not like that. Anyway, congratulations and thank
you for your
inspiring story. The girls are gorgeous!!

I gave birth to 8wk. premature identical twin girls
on Feb. 23,2001.
They came into the world early because one of my
twins, Daielle, had
developed bi-lateral pleural effusions in utero. I
was given injections
of betamethasone for two days before the drs. had me
come in to see if
they could perform a thoracentesis(drain fluid from
chest cavity) which
ultimately was not completely successful. Danielle
was put on a
ventilator because her lungs were unable to fully
expand and develop
because of the fluid. She stayed on a vent. for
3wks., was in NICU for
2 months and came home on their due date. Emily was
perfectly fine but
had to be delivered because she was there for the
ride. She was not put
on a ventilator and only stayed in NICU for 1 month.
This was a scary,
emotional and hard to describe time for me. They are
growing well and
eat like two little piggies! They are needing
physical therapy for a
possible genetic and unrelated problem. Danielle is
getting RSV
injections, Emily is n |

I am the mother of preemie twins. They were born on
July 22, 2001 and
I had aboy and a girl. The girl is the big sister,
both are 14 minutes
apart from eachother. It was very hard having my
babies so eaarly and
seeing how small they were and connected to all of
those machines in
the NICU.
Now they are both home and are doing fine but my son
was send home on
an apnea monitor and on oxygen. We were told to not
have our babies
around large crowds and they did encourage us to
take our babies out
every one in awahile to get them used to being
exposed to the outside
air.
My husband is alittle more hesitant about taking the
babies out. How
long did you guys last before you actually took your
babies out?

We had boy-girl twins on July 21st of 2001. They
were 6 weeks early
and are now 3 months old. They weighed 4lb.6oz. and
4lb.8 oz. They
had a few problems at birth but only spent 10 days
in the hospital. It
was really rough. We have been blessed. The twwins
are growing, the
little boy faster than our little girl. |

Hi, my beatiful girls were born at 28 weeks on
February 25, 2000 after
8 weeks of bedrest. They each had their struggles to
get well and gain
weight. Paige, the littler one, had to be trasferred
to another
hospital because we were told she had a defect in
her esophogus. She
did have a tear in her esophogus, so she was fed
through a tube in her
belly until the esphogus could heal. Peyton had
trouble with apnea, so
she came home with medication. Both girls were on
apnea monitors until
they were 6 months old. Today, they are 19 months
old and weigh over
19 pounds each. They are beautiful and busy
toddlers. Paige has
asthma like symptoms with a cold and they both get
sick easily. Other
than that, we have no problems from prematurity. |

My bestfriend had her twins yesterday morning at 29
weeks. Garrett
weighs 3lbs 5 ozs and is 16 inches long and Trevor
is 3lbs 6 1/2 ozs and
is 17 inches long. She went to bed like any normal
night and woke up an
hour later and discovered that her water had broken.
Her husband
rushed her to the hospital and she was all ready
dialted to 5cm. She
gave birth 4 1/2 hours later and the babies were
born naturally and were
only 5 minutes apart. They were rushed to the NICU
immediately and they
are both doing OK. I went to see them tonight and
they are so tiny.
They are both on oxygen and are not yet able to eat
but hopefully will
be able to be fed in the next few days. The doctor
says 6 week minimum
stay so hopefully by Halloween the boys will join
their 2 1/2 year old
sister at home who is anxiously awaiting to hold
them along with myself.

Hi I have been looking at different preemie pages
since my little boy
Jaden was born at 33.5 weeks. I didn't know I was in
labor. I noticed
that I was bleeding so I called the on-call doc. He
said it was up to
me if I went to the hosp. I chose to go to ease my
worries. When I
arrived, I was dialated to a 4 and my bag of water
was bulging. With
the help of mag sulfate I held off for 30 hrs. I had
no pain until the
last 2 or 3 hrs. Easy stuff for me. Jaden was born
weighing 5lbs 2oz.
He was enormous compared to what we were told to
expect. He had an iv
and nasogastric tube. He had jaundice for a week but
other than that,
he did great. The doc and nurses called him miracle
baby. He only
stayed in the nicu for 10 days and we were able to
take him home. He is
now 14mos and weighs around 23lbs. He hasn't stopped
eating since he
figured out how. I know how lucky we are to have had
such a healthy
baby. I really wish the rest of you luck with your
growing kids. My

My preemie twins Cody and Kate Lynn are four weeks
and one day old
today. They are truly a gift from God.
Kate Lynn is doing wonderful. She is already on rm
air w/1/2ltr flow.
Her Oxygen levels have really been her only setback.
She has reached
three pounds as has her brother. She's on her way to
getting home.
Cody is a fighter. He has yet another type of sepsis
but it has been
caught early and he's being treated. His biggest
fight is against a
GRIII bleed. This is a wait and learn condition for
me. (And it
worries and scares me)
I am so looking forward to getting them home. Time.
This takes time.
And support, which I have none.
So, please mail me! |
